Dr. Farjana Sultana joined the IUBAT in 2010, as a Faculty member. Since her coming to IUBAT, she is teaching Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology and Educational Planning. Dr. Sultana is specialized on biological control of plant diseases, an exceptionally environment friendly technique, and is trying to establish this system in Bangladesh.
Dr. Sultana achieved her bachelor degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh (BAU) in 2003 and same year she went to Japan for post graduation. She did her MS and PhD at Gifu University, Japan in 2006 and 2009, respectively. During the course of her MS and PhD research, she had identified several genes which are responsible for inducing systemic resistance in plants by Plant Growth Promoting Fungus (PGPF). Immediately after her graduation, she came back to Bangladesh only for her strong patriotism. She is continuing the same research here. She has already published 12 scientific papers in different prestigious peer reviewed journal with the total impact factor of 16.5.
Dr. Sultana is personally working with the concept of KBAD (Knowledge Based Area Development) and trying to help the needy people. She believes that every people should extend their hand to the nearest people so that poverty alleviation from this country may come into true.
An important aspect of her life is family — her husband, and two kids, one son and one daughter.
